Jakarta-One of the Oldest Cities of the World, A Must Visit Mainly for Its Historical Monuments Through Food is also Delicious out Here

Jakarta is the 7th most populous capital city of the world. Also, it is ranked as 8th most posted among all the cities of the world in the year 2017 by Instagram. It’s certainly not among the top international tourist location of the world; however, it stands proudly as the fifth fastest-growing location among the 132 cities being listed by MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index which was published in the year 2017. 59.1% however, come here for the business purpose. But it’s worth noting that 40.9% of the visitors come here to spend their free time. And according to the latest Top 100 city destinations ranking by Euromonitor International, Jakarta is ranked at 83, and with more than 3.5 million international tourists visiting each year. And this was 48.5% higher as compared to 2016. The world travel and tourism council’s listed Jakarta as amongst the top 10 fastest growing cities in the whole world. They also categorized as one of the emerging performers that are going to see a significant increase in the tourists visiting numbers within the next 10 years.

Most of the visitors being attracted by Jakarta, however, are the domestic tourists, and it’s a stopover location for the foreign visitors as they have their way to the various Indonesian tourist’s locations like Lombok, Bali, Komodo Island, and Yogyakarta. 

Various locations to visit

The first is certainly the Jakarta Old City Port Office at Fatahullah Square, Central Jakarta. Other extremely popular destinations considered to be a must-visit are located in Kota and in and around Merdeka Square. Kota happens to be center of the old Jakarta, and there you can find Maritime Museum, Gereja Sion, Kota Intan drawbridge, Stadhuis Batavia, Wayang Museum, Fine Art and Ceramic Museum, Bank Indonesia Museum, Bank Mandiri Museum, Glodok, and Jakarta Kota Station. Glodok is the Chinatown. Out of all the above Kota Tua happens to be the most visited destination in Indonesia in the year 2017 by Instagram. You can find the tall-masted pinisi Ships still in the ports of Sunda Kelapa. The Jakarta Cathedral is known for its neo-gothic architecture in the central Jakarta, and that also attracts various architecture enthusiasts.

Various other tourist attractions are Thousand Islands, Setu Babakan, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, an old port at Sunda Kelapa, Ancol Dreamland Complex on the Jakarta Bay that houses Dunia Fantasi theme part, Gelangang Samudra, Atlantis Water Adventure. 

You will also find most of the international hotel chains. However, if you are a backpacker and looking for cheaper accommodation, second-hand bookstores, travel agencies, laundries, and money changers, then probably you need to move to Jalan Jaksa. Also, PIK is a new suburb for the hangout as well, and Kemang is a good suburb for the expats.

The food out here is also quite good, and some of the dishes are out of this world, and quite delectable. Transportation facility is also quite good. It’s a good city certainly, and a must-visit.
